Susan has worked as an art director and graphic designer for the past 17+ years. She attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where she graduated in 2001 with a BFA in Graphic Design. A few years after graduation she moved to Tucson, Arizona where she worked for Bolchalk Frey Marketing, Canyon Ranch and Gordley Group. Susan founded Smart Pop Creative in 2012. Some of her clients were the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, Arizona Public Media, and the College of Humanities at The University of Arizona.
While in Arizona, Susan was very active in the local design and advertising community. She founded Ad2 Tucson in 2005 and was the Communications Chair on the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Tucson’s board of directors. In 2014, Susan was honored by AAF Tucson with the Next Generation Award. Susan has also been a very active member of AIGA since 2000 and has served on AIGA Arizona's board as the Vice President in Tucson and Tucson Director. Along with her strong ties to the community, Susan also has been honored with multiple Addy Awards.
Susan moved back to Minneapolis in November 2016 to be closer to her family. She began contracting with companies such as Medtronic and Life Time. Currently she is a designer at UnitedHealthcare. She is also a member of AIGA Minnesota and joined the board in January 2017 to serve as their Director of Development. In her free time, she enjoys photography, traveling, yoga, running, hiking and spending time with her husband and son, Thad and Sean Roe.
